This year I was one of the judges in South Place Hotel’s annual Art Prize:
“South Place Hotel has held an annual prize-giving competition for London-based artists since the hotel’s opening in September 2012. The competition aims to showcase up-and-coming talent to the neighbourhood, and is open to recent MA graduates from London art schools. The winner is awarded prize money of £5,000 and an additional £500 contribution towards expenses.
Judges
Helen Little, Curator of Modern and Contemporary British Art at Tate Britain, Eleanor Young, Executive Editor of RIBA magazine, Johan Deurell, Design Historian and Lecturer at Central Saint Martins, Tina Norden, Associate Director of Conran+Partners Architects and Designers, Hanne Puttonen of Frogmore Property Fund Managers, CEO of D&D London Des Gunewardena and Bruce Robertson, General Manager of South Place Hotel.”
Out of the all the entries, we shortlisted four artists, which were invited for an interview. The winner will be presented in an award ceremony at the hotel in November.
